Make your own spot on the moon!

Welcome! If you are curious about how the Moon looks like if you could stand on its surface like an astronaut, then you could consider making your own lunar topographic model with the correct proportions! Not so difficult. We have made topographic models of the Apollo landing sites, using available topographic maps and the extraordinary detailed images taken by the astronauts during the Apollo landings. You can also consider making your own lunar landscape not visited by the Apollo astronauts, landscapes of far away icy moons, or Mars? Check out our examples for the Apollo landing sites in the Gallery. Please contact us (tlp225@yahoo.com) if you have questions.

The moon is indeed a perfect desert, with rolling hills, high mountains and a pitch black sky. A truly alien, lonely and beautiful landscape, untouched over the eons. Mind-boggling by itself. In making the landscapes, we have used what is available from the Apollo program on the internet, namely maps and photos in color and b/w, taken by the astronauts from orbit and on the surface. A truly inspiring experience.

AWARDS: The model for the Apollo 15 site has been awarded a spot on Lunar Picture of the Day 22/09/11
